Cristiano Batacchi

Cristiano Batacchi was born in Florence in 1968. He attended the Porta Romana Art Institute in Florence, where he graduated in “Art of advertising graphics and photography”. His artistic career began at the end of the 1980s, first under the guidance of Osvaldo Curandai, a famous contemporary Post-Macchiaiolo painter and later as a pupil of Roberto Masi, a figurative painter with an unmistakable style.

The continuous search for new forms of expression has led Batacchi to achieve a bright and vibrant style, always maintaining the concept of figuration and the indissoluble link to the Tuscan landscape.

Cristiano Batacchi’s works inspire serenity, balance, are full of romantic vibrations. His color palette is composed of a mixture of soft and warm colors. His painting has the dense and brown tones of the ancient walls of Renaissance houses. The nature that Batacchi paints is the nature of our land, unique; the blue skies furrowed by white clouds, the various shades of gray of the olive leaves, the greens of the soaring and dark cypresses, the sunny dirt roads, the austere and rigorous architecture of the farmhouses immersed in the silence of the surrounding countryside. His love for simple and everyday scenarios and the pictorial technique based on drawing and light, mean that his painting can be considered post-Macchiaioli. He studied Ottone Rosai for his views, the volumes of the houses, the overall and bare cuts of the scores; he observed Soffici for the serene balance of his backgrounds, then elaborating a personal style of great skill and technical and perspective competence, in which the colors fade gently. A painting of genuine spontaneity, of a suggestive romanticism, with precise brushstrokes, skilful glazes and a rich, assonant chromatic scale. Paintings where one finds a vibration of feeling, a great love for one’s land, paintings that reveal delicacy and poetry for these Tuscan views where never before human intervention in nature has been so harmonious. His paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions and in galleries and art fairs in Italy and abroad.
